Love can be a real monster.

Sixteen-year-old Boy’s never left home. When you’re the son of Frankenstein’s monster and the Bride, it’s tough to go out in public, unless you want to draw the attention of a torch-wielding mob. And since Boy and his family live in a secret enclave of monsters hidden under Times Square, it’s important they maintain a low profile.

Boy’s only interactions with the world are through the Internet, where he’s a hacker extraordinaire who can hide his hulking body and stitched-together face behind a layer of code. When conflict erupts at home, Boy runs away and embarks on a cross-country road trip with the granddaughters of Jekyll and Hyde, who introduce him to malls and diners, love and heartbreak. But no matter how far Boy runs, he can’t escape his demons—both literal and figurative—until he faces his family once more.

This hilarious, romantic, and wildly imaginative tale redefines what it means to be a monster—and a man.

A YA Frankenstein retelling that is pitched as hilarious, romantic, and wildly imaginative, with a road trip featuring the granddaughters of Jekyll and Hyde? Those all sound like things that add up to an absolute instant favorite for me, and, with that having been said, I am looking forward to reading Man Made Boy extremely

    My WW!

  2. I really enjoy retellings but I've got to be honest this one scares me (no pun intended). I'm not sure about the humor aspect but I am dying to see what you think of it. I think it'll be one I'll wait and see what some trusted reviewers think.

  4. This sounds really interesting. "Love can be a real monster." is a fantastic hook... but I'll probably have to wait what reviewers think first, like Kristen.

  5. I'd never heard of this before but it sounds so cute! Thanks for bringing it to my attention, I'll be sure to add it to my TBR list and keep an eye out for it now. :) Great pick!

  6. I think this is a cool idea but am nervous about how it will be executed-there is a lot of potential for it to go wrong, I feel. Hope it works out well!
